This is a situation that a lot of SIowa SR22 policy holders fall for. And, you know, in many cases the people who are offering the money to fix the damages are sincere and really aren’t trying to trick you. But the problem is that even if they are just well intentioned but irresponsible drivers, accepting money in cash from a stranger for a car accident and failing to report it to your car insurance company can have serious consequences.

The main one is that damages and injuries are often not what they appear to be in the most immediate sense. Maybe you feel just fine, but later that night you begin to feel back pain. Maybe your car is running good for the first hour, but you begin to hear an unusual noise…basically, unless the person who crashed into your car is BOTH a doctor AND a mechanic AND an insurance adjustor, you have a very high chance of getting away with the short end of the stick.
